My name is Dave I am based in Bristol. I am a freelance laser and lighting programmer and operator, currently expanding my Knowledge, experience, equipment inventory, and client base for my production company, LYSERGIC PRODUCTIONS.

Utilizing Avolites, Pangolin Beyond, MadMapper, and Resolume. I also have experience with 3D modeling software including SolidEdge, SolidWorks, and SketchUp.

I started out as an advanced Mechanical Engineering Apprentice for STFC at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on the Harwell research and innovation campus in Oxfordshire. Upon completing the apprenticeship, I worked within the Central Laser Facility as a Rapid Response Technician. In this role, I conceptualized, manufactured, and modified specialized components for use within the laser experiments and the wider faculty, all while completing a Mechanical Engineering Design Degree. I was involved in many projects, including the assembly and commissioning of Dipole100X, a second-generation compact laser amplification system for use at the European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility (European XFEL) in Hamburg, Germany. https://www.clf.stfc.ac.uk/Pages/D100X.aspx

I then assumed the position of a Beamline Technician on I09 Surfaces and Interface Structural Analysis at the UK's national synchrotron, Diamond Light Source. https://www.diamond.ac.uk/Home/About.html Here, I gained extensive hands-on experience on several beamlines within the facility with my main focus to install and commission a new imaging end station, Soft X-ray Angle Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy (SX ARPES). This was a collaboration project between Diamond Light Source and two German universities. My responsibilities included assembling, installing, maintaining, calibrating, testing, and commissioning various vacuum, gas, and cryogenic systems, preparing the facility for user groups.

As an ex-apprentice, I took on the role of training apprentices, reinforcing my knowledge, instilling safe working practices, and emphasizing the importance of clear and concise communication.
